Lea Salonga celebrated as cultural icon at Madame Tussauds Singapore

The wax figure of Broadway sensation Lea Salonga will soon grace the halls of the famed wax museum Madame Tussauds Singapore, following an announcement made on Wednesday.

Renowned for her illustrious career spanning over four decades, Salonga is famed for her iconic portrayals of characters like Kim in Miss Saigon and as the beloved singing voices of Disney princesses Jasmine and Mulan. Her groundbreaking achievements, including being the first Asian to portray Eponine in Les Misérables on Broadway, have solidified her status as a cultural icon.

Elaine Quek, Head of Sales and Marketing at Madame Tussauds Singapore, expressed excitement over Salonga’s inclusion, stating, “We are truly thrilled to welcome Lea Salonga to Madame Tussauds Singapore. Her remarkable talent and contributions to the world of entertainment make her a perfect addition to our star-studded lineup.”

Salonga’s philanthropic endeavors, including her support for various social causes in the Philippines and her efforts in COVID-19 relief, further underscore her impact beyond the stage. Her involvement as a judge on The Voice Philippines and The Voice Kids Philippines has endeared her to audiences across generations.

Salonga’s wax figure will be officially unveiled in the third quarter of the year as part of the museum’s 10th anniversary.
