Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) has increased personnel deployment across its expressway network to manage the expected surge in traffic during the Semana Santa holidays.
The tollway operator is implementing its “Biyaheng Arangkada” motorist assistance program from March 27 to April 6, 2026, covering the NLEX, SCTEX, NLEX Connector, CAVITEX, CALAX and the CCLEX in Cebu.
This is being carried out in coordination with the Bases Conversion Development Authority and the Philippine Reclamation Authority through the PEA Tollway Corp.
The program aims to ensure efficient traffic management, rapid incident response, and seamless toll transactions as millions of Filipinos travel for the Lenten season.
MPTC said the initiative reflects a commitment to “ensuring a safe Holy Week journey for motorists and the commuting public, enabling travelers to reconnect safely with their families during this season of reflection.”
To maximize road capacity, MPTC has suspended all roadworks, lane closures, and maintenance activities throughout the period. Traffic teams are stationed to activate counterflow schemes if vehicle volume reaches critical levels.
For those using the North Luzon Expressway, MPTC expects heavy northbound traffic to peak from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon.
Return trips are projected to congest southbound lanes during the afternoon and evening hours of Saturday and Sunday, with heavy volume persisting into early Monday morning.
The company advised motorists to check their RFID account balances and inspect vehicle roadworthiness before departing. Drivers are also encouraged to use the MPT DriveHub app for real-time traffic updates and to adhere to speed limits.
