FedEx contributes $126 billion to global economy

FedEx Corp. reported a $126-billion contribution to the global economy in fiscal year 2025, according to its annual Global Economic Impact Report.

The report, prepared with Dun & Bradstreet, highlighted the growing importance of its Asia Pacific (APAC) network, including the Philippines, in driving trade and supply-chain connectivity.

The company’s direct economic contribution is 1.6 times higher than the average for companies with over 100,000 employees, underscoring the scale and efficiency of its global network, a phenomenon the report cites as the “FedEx Effect” or the combined direct and indirect economic value generated by its worldwide operations.

In the APAC region, FedEx delivered an estimated $5.7 billion in combined direct and indirect economic impact in FY25, with strong contributions to the region’s transportation, storage, communications and manufacturing sectors.

The company indirectly contributed $1.6 billion to the region’s economy and increased investments to meet rising trade flows.

FedEx Philippines managing director Maribeth Espinosa said the company continues to see rising demand from Filipino firms seeking dependable international logistics support as they expand into global markets.

“In the Philippines, we’ve witnessed firsthand how reliable logistics connectivity empowers businesses of all sizes, from SMEs and e-commerce retailers to major manufacturers, on the global stage,” Espinosa said.

She said that FedEx’ ongoing investments in local operations, infrastructure and digital solutions are designed to help Filipino businesses navigate an increasingly complex and fast-moving trade environment. These improvements strengthen the country’s participation in cross-border commerce, with FedEx positioning the Philippines as a key link in its APAC network.

APAC remains one of the company’s most critical markets, accounting for 60 percent of the world’s population and serving as a major driver of global economic activity, FedEx said.
