P6-billion SM Harrison Plaza project to open in 2027

SM Prime Holdings Inc. is investing more than P6 billion to redevelop the iconic Harrison Plaza in Manila, with the flagship mall scheduled to open in 2027, the company said on Wednesday.

The project is a key component of the company’s P150-billion mall investment program spanning 2026 to 2030. This broader initiative includes the major redevelopment of 16 existing malls and the construction of 12 to 15 new lifestyle centers.

Once completed, SM Harrison Plaza will feature a gross floor area of more than 200,000 square meters. This scale places the development on par with other flagship properties such as SM City Davao and SM City Clark.

SM Supermalls [resident Steven Tan said the design will focus on sustainability and community engagement.

“The development will incorporate nature-inspired architectural elements alongside open layouts, community spaces and green areas designed to support cultural and social activities,” Tan said.

Originally opened in 1976, Harrison Plaza was the first one-stop shopping mall in the Philippines. The new development is expected to function as a mixed-use retail and lifestyle hub, targeting office workers, residents and students in the Malate and Ermita districts.

The company expects the project to attract both foreign and local tourists due to its proximity to several hotels and major Manila attractions.
