The Philippines reported more than $514 million in actual and negotiated deals at the 32nd Seafood Expo Global (SEG) here, following rising international demand for the country’s seafood and aquaculture products.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) said consolidated sales from the Philippine delegation reached $514.8 million, or approximately P31.68 billion, during the global trade event.
DA Undersecretary for Fisheries Drusila Esther Bayate, who headed the delegation, said booked sales totaled $450.6 million (P27.73 billion), while negotiated agreements reached $64.17 million (P3.95 billion).
Bayate said the strong results reflect the competitiveness of Philippine exporters and the importance of government support in helping firms comply with international regulations.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said the country’s performance at SEG 2026 highlighted vast opportunities for seafood exports.
“SEG 2026 shows that, like the oceans themselves, there is a vast market for Philippine seafood if we improve standards and marketing,” Tiu Laurel said.
With more than 2,000 exhibitors participating in the expo, officials said the Philippines’ showing reinforced the country’s reputation as a reliable seafood supplier in the global market.
The DA said continued government support in regulatory compliance, technical assistance, and logistics will be crucial in helping exporters capitalize on growing global demand.
