PLDT’s profit dips 7% to P30b despite revenue growth

PLDT Inc. reported on Thursday a 7-percent drop in its full-year net income for 2025, blaming the decline to difficult economic conditions encountered in the first six months of the year.

The telecommunications company said net profit amounted to P30 billion in 2025, down from P32.30 billion in 2024. Despite the bottom-line dip, gross service revenues rose 2 percent to P212.18 billion from P208.38 billion a year earlier.

“The first half of the year was tough, but we regained momentum in the second half, with our third-quarter gains carrying us through to the end of 2025. Our core business has remained stable, especially considering the challenges in the wider economy. We likewise saw our disciplined and focused investments strengthen our free cash flow,” PLDT and Smart chairman and chief executive Manuel Pangilinan said.

The company’s core income edged up 1 percent to P34.6 billion, but telco core income slipped 3 percent to P33.9 billion. Within its business units, the wireless consumer segment generated P85 billion in revenues, while the home broadband division saw a 3-percent increase to P61 billion.

PLDT Enterprise achieved record revenues of P48.4 billion, a 1 percent year-on-year increase that signaled a return to growth.

The company’s ICT and data center arms, ePLDT and VITRO Inc., posted combined revenues of P6.5 billion, up 22 percent on high demand for cloud and cybersecurity services.

“We continue to build a healthier business for the long term, powered by our subscribers and the steady scaling of our growth engines, including our ICT and data center businesses and Maya, which are becoming increasingly meaningful contributors to PLDT,” Pangilinan said.

Capital expenditure for 2025 was reduced to P60.3 billion from P78.2 billion in 2024, lowering capex intensity to 28 percent.

For 2026, the company expects capex to settle in the mid-P50 billion range as it maintains a 60-percent dividend payout policy. As of December 2025, the group’s fiber network reached 1.25 million cable kilometers.
