The Social Housing Finance Corp and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority have teamed up to develop a 13-hectare residential complex in New Clark City to support the government’s national housing program.
SHFC president and chief executive Federico Laxa met with Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president and chief executive Joshua Bingcang in Taguig to finalize plans for the development. The project, located in Tarlac, will consist of 41 seven-story buildings designed to provide affordable housing for more than 5,700 BCDA employees and local workers in Central Luzon.
The initiative falls under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.
The national housing strategy is overseen by Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling and aims to bridge the country’s housing gap through high-density, vertical developments.
“This initiative demonstrates the shared commitment of both government agencies to expand access to dignified housing,” the agencies said in a joint statement.
The meeting also included BCDA vice president for strategic projects management Randy Viacrusis and BCDA legal services department Samuel Escaño.
Private sector partners also attended, including Kaerland Development Corp. president Juan Paolo Canlas and Hilmarc’s Construction Corp. chairman Efren Canlas.
New Clark City is being positioned as a primary economic hub and alternative metropolis to Manila. By providing on-site housing for workers, the BCDA and SHFC aim to ensure the sustainability of the city’s rapid industrial and commercial growth.
