FFCCCII lauds grant of 14-day visa-free entry for Chinese nationals

The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) welcomed the government’s authorization of a 14-day visa-free entry for Chinese nationals which the group said is a vital step to accelerate economic growth and tourism.

The FFCCCII said the policy allows the Philippines to better compete with Southeast Asian neighbors for the global outbound travel market.

FFCCCII president Victor Lim said that Chinese travel is expected to surpass 200 million trips by 2028, rising from a pre-pandemic high of 155 million.

Lim said the current wave of Chinese travelers is affluent and tech-savvy, seeking cultural immersion, island leisure and premium culinary experiences.

He said the policy is designed to create opportunities for local entrepreneurs and foster inclusive growth throughout the country.

The influx of visitors is expected to provide significant advantages to micro, small and medium enterprises as well as rural areas beyond major hubs like Manila and Cebu, it said.

The federation committed to supporting the government’s tourism goals and called on the aviation, hospitality and retail sectors to maintain high service standards and ensure visitor safety.

The group also stressed the importance of protecting the nation’s natural and cultural landmarks.

FFCCCII officials said they would utilize their international business networks to promote the Philippines to the Chinese market and the rest of the world while advocating for a sustainable tourism model.
