Fairfield by Marriott Cebu Mactan will open on Dec. 19, 2024 as the first Marriott-branded city hotel on the island.
The 196-room property is part of the Mahi Center, a mixed-use commercial development owned by AppleOne Group that aims to enhance the urban hospitality landscape near Cebu’s primary gateway.
The hotel is located five minutes from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport and is positioned to serve “bleisure” travelers, a segment blending business and leisure. The opening follows the launch of the Mahi Center mall, which is scheduled to begin operations one day prior to the hotel.
AppleOne Group vice president for hospitality Samantha Manigsaca said the project is rooted in a connection to Cebu and reflects the island’s optimism. The development includes 89 standard twin rooms, 94 standard queen rooms and 13 deluxe queen rooms.
The property features a Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic and includes two flexible meeting spaces totaling 256.22 square meters.
Facilities also consist of a fitness center and an all-day dining restaurant. Sheraton Cebu Mactan and Fairfield by Marriott Cebu Mactan Multi-Property General Manager Dottie Würgler said the hotel is designed to provide guests with a space where comfort and genuine care come together at the gateway of Mactan.
As the second Marriott-branded property for AppleOne Group after the Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort, the Fairfield site sits within a growing commercial hub. The Mahi Center development also introduces several retail and dining brands to the area, including Lapu-Lapu City’s first ABACA Baking Company, S&R New York Style Pizza and a KFC outlet.
The strategic location provides access to local heritage attractions, dive sites and commercial centers. While specific project costs were not disclosed in the announcement, the investment represents a significant addition to the regional tourism infrastructure as Cebu continues its economic recovery and expansion.
The hotel joins a competitive hospitality market in Cebu, where developers are increasingly focusing on integrated developments that combine retail, office and lodging components to maximize land value and guest convenience.
