In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call to promote the welfare of workers and their families, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), through its Surigao del Sur Field Office, has partnered with the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Caraga and 13 private companies to bring improved health, empowerment, and well-being support to Surigao del Sur workers.
Formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), the partnership will enable the establishment of workplace-based programs aligned with the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action (2023–2028), focusing on responsible parenthood and family planning, labor force empowerment and healthy aging, and inclusive development for marginalized sectors.
Under the agreement, companies are expected to advance the implementation of their Family Welfare Program (FWP) by integrating reproductive health, adolescent development, gender equality, and labor empowerment initiatives.
DOLE shall lead in monitoring the compliance of companies, while CPD will provide training support.
Representing DOLE in the MOA signing ceremony is Senior Labor and Employment Officer Romelyn B. Bactol of the DOLE–Surigao del Sur Field Office, while CPD Caraga is represented by its Regional Director Alexander A. Makinano.
Through collaborative efforts, the Labor Department pushes for the institutionalization of family welfare programs in workplaces nationwide.
