GCash, the Philippines’ leading e-wallet, has teamed up with hybrid retail chain CARD Indogrosir to deploy its innovative SoundPay devices across its network to accelerate the adoption of digital payments among Filipino businesses and micro-retailers.
The partnership focuses on enhancing the reliability and speed of scan-to-pay transactions, especially in areas with limited internet connectivity. The compact SoundPay device emits a distinct audio cue upon a successful payment, allowing merchants to instantly confirm transactions without needing to check their phones or request screenshots.
The devices are already active in 29 CARD Indogrosir branches, with plans to add 44 more before the end of the year and expand to a total of 200 stores by next year.
“This partnership is about meeting users where they are and making payments work better for everyone. SoundPay brings speed, simplicity and trust to everyday transactions,” said Jong Layug, group head of GCash for business.
