AFCM launches 2035 roadmap for low-carbon cement in Southeast Asia

The ASEAN Federation of Cement Manufacturers (AFCM) has launched the AFCM 2035 Roadmap, a collective framework to push the regional cement industry toward low-carbon production.

The roadmap was unveiled at the 46th AFCM Council Meeting, held under the theme “Cementing Climate Goals Through Innovations,” reaffirming Southeast Asia’s commitment to sustainability and decarbonization.

Developed with support from the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA), the roadmap details coordinated strategies for ASEAN members to meet carbon reduction targets aligned with global climate goals.

The AFCM 2035 Roadmap sets out four priority areas for joint regional action: promoting low-carbon cement, advancing energy transition, maximizing supplementary cementitious materials and adopting deep decarbonization technologies. These initiatives aim to position the region as a model for sustainable construction practices.

Representing the Philippines, Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines (CeMAP) President John Reinier Dizon cited the country’s strong support and alignment with the regional plan.

“The Philippines fully supports AFCM’s sustainability direction. This year, we launched our own Philippine Cement Sustainability Roadmap, setting clear actions to reduce our carbon footprint, promote low-carbon cement, and expand the use of alternative fuels,” said Dizon.
