The provincial government of Laguna, led by Governor Sol Aragones, confirmed the start of construction for a new three-story building at JP Rizal Memorial District Hospital in Calamba City, marking a significant step in the province’s drive to improve healthcare services.
The expansion aims to provide more comfortable facilities for patients and proper rest areas for medical staff.
Aragones said the facility’s ground floor would be developed into a modern emergency room, designed to ease congestion in the existing ER.
The second floor will function as a hospital ward, while the third floor will be dedicated as a dormitory for patient watchers and a rest area for nurses and health workers, she said.
“I don’t want to see families sleeping on cement floors or laying down cartons just to rest,” Aragones said, expressing her concern for patients’ families.
She said the dormitory would also “serve as a place where our nurses and health workers can properly rest.”
The upcoming facility is described as a concrete expression of Laguna’s commitment to humane, accessible and quality healthcare for every resident of Laguna.
