The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) opened its 27th PIDS Corner at the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA) Library in Cotabato City on Monday. The initiative aims to improve access to policy research and evidence-based knowledge within the Bangsamoro region.
The launch, which took place on Sept. 25 during the second Bangsamoro Development Policy Research Forum, also included the signing of a memorandum of understanding between PIDS and BPDA.
PIDS president Randy Tuaño said that for nearly two decades, the PIDS Corner program has been a cornerstone of its mission to bring policy research closer to our policymakers, researchers, students and communities.
BPDA director-general Mohajirin Ali called the new PIDS Corner “a crucial milestone” in making high-quality research more accessible, emphasizing that the partnership highlights both agencies’ dedication to strengthening evidence-based policymaking and developing responsive programs for the Bangsamoro people.
The PIDS now maintains 14 corners in Luzon, six in Visayas and seven in Mindanao as part of its nationwide dissemination and outreach program designed to make policy research more accessible to people outside Metro Manila.
