DigiPlus teams up with Bayad for OTC cash payments after BSP e-wallet order

DigiPlus Interactive Corp. has expanded its payment options with an exclusive partnership with Bayad to offer over-the-counter (OTC) cash payments for users of its gaming apps.

The move aims to ensure that DigiPlus players will still have secure and convenient transaction management following a recent directive from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to remove gambling-related links from e-wallet apps.

Under the agreement, DigiPlus becomes Bayad’s exclusive gaming partner for OTC cash transactions.

“This partnership with Bayad provides customers with more secure and convenient ways to manage their transactions, reinforcing our commitment to player protection and dependable service at every touchpoint,” said Eusebio Tanco, chairman of DigiPlus.

Bayad, a BSP-accredited electronic money issuer, operates more than 800 branches and partner outlets nationwide, including locations in malls, supermarkets and convenience stores.

DigiPlus users of the BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone gaming applications can now make cash-in or deposit transactions through these physical locations. Cash-out services and app-based features will be introduced in later phases.

Bayad chairman Atty. Ray C. Espinosa said the collaboration aims to provide more inclusive financial access.

“Together, we’re expanding access to digital channels and offering new, engaging, and responsible ways for Filipinos to experience convenience and entertainment,” Espinosa said.

DigiPlus said it partners only with BSP-accredited payment channels, in compliance with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation’s requirements.

The company’s support network also includes over 130 BingoPlus stores, 24/7 customer service and a surety bond for player wallets.

The BSP in August ordered e-wallet providers to cut in-app access to online gambling platforms to protect users of digital platforms from risks associated with online gambling.

Major platforms like GCash and Maya complied with the order.

As a result, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. earlier reported that online gaming transactions declined by as much as 50 percent.
