Maria Elena “Marilen” Tantoco, a prominent figure in the Philippine retail and diplomatic spheres, passed away at the age of 67 on Sept. 30, 2025.
The fifth daughter of Rustan’s founders Ambassador Bienvenido Tantoco and Glecy Tantoco, Marilen was born on Aug. 18, 1958.

Throughout her career, she held key positions, including serving as the Consul General of Morocco. In the family business, she was a director of the SSI Group Inc. and held the position of vice president for merchandising in the home division of Rustan’s.
Her family announced on Instagram that wake services would be held from Oct. 1 to Oct. 3, 2025, at 25B Tamarind South, Forbes Park, Makati.
