The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has integrated the country’s national ID authentication services with the Virtual Pag-IBIG platform, making transactions for members of the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund) more secure and streamlined.
Also known as the Provident Fund Management System, Virtual Pag-IBIG is an online portal for members and employers to access services, view records and manage savings and contributions. The integration with the National ID authentication services removes unnecessary steps and ensures only the rightful member can access benefits and opportunities.
The move was formalized at a ceremonial signing event at the PSA headquarters in Quezon City, attended by key officials, including Undersecretary Claire Dennis Mapa, the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, and representatives from Pag-IBIG Fund led by chief executive Marilene Acosta.
Mapa said the integration was a “bold step toward modernizing government digital infrastructure.”
“This initiative directly supports Pag-IBIG Fund’s mission to enhance the efficiency, integrity, and accessibility of its services—particularly in loan applications, membership registration, and other vital transactions,” Mapa said.
“It is a testament to how the National ID can truly serve as an enabler of digital government, fostering trust, convenience, and inclusivity for millions of Filipinos here and abroad,” he said.
Assistant secretary Rosalinda Bautista, deputy national statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office, said the integration would enhance public trust.
“The National ID will serve as a trusted and verifiable tool to authenticate the identity of every person applying for Pag-IBIG membership online,” Bautista said.
“With the National ID serving as a reliable proof of identity, Filipinos can be confident that their records are secure, accurate, and recognized,” she said.
Acosta thanked the PSA for what she called a “significant step” towards digitalization.
“This partnership marks a significant step toward delivering a truly digital, seamless, and people-centered public service,” she said.
Acosta said that the initiative is aligned with Memorandum Circular No. 95, which directs all government agencies to integrate PhilSys into their processes, databases and services.
Pag-IBIG Fund joins a growing list of government institutions using the National ID authentication services. Other agencies include the Small Business Corporation (SBCorp), which uses the service to verify the identities of representatives of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) via the SBCorp Money mobile app.
In some municipalities, the National ID authentication services have also made processing requests for civil registry documents such as birth, marriage and death certificates more secure and streamlined. The service also eliminates the need for manual record checking and encoding of a client’s personal information.Pasig City also recently integrated the National ID with its PasigPass to help protect against identity fraud, strengthen data security and provide verified information on residents for improved service delivery, including financial assistance.
