DOTr files case against Ex-DPWH officials for using fake licenses

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has filed a case against two former officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for allegedly using fake driver’s licenses to enter a casino, acting DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez said Tuesday.

The criminal case was filed at the Parañaque Prosecutor’s Office against former Bulacan district engineer Henry Alcantara and assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez. They face charges of “use of falsified documents,” the DOTr said.

The two men, who are members of a group called the “BGC Boys,” were found to be using fake licenses, which Lopez called a “serious crime.”

“The DOTr and LTO—we will not allow any official or private individual to violate the licenses… They will be held accountable under the law,” Lopez said.

If convicted, Alcantara and Hernandez face up to six years in prison and a fine of P1 million, according to Lopez.

The DOTr is also preparing similar cases against other members of the BGC Boys, Arjay Domasig and Jaypee Mendoza.

Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) said it has permanently canceled the licenses of Alcantara and Hernandez.

Lopez warned that the DOTr and LTO would pursue criminal charges against anyone caught using or who uses fake licenses.

“This is to remind the public that you really cannot use a fake license, that is a crime. I hope they don’t do that because we will go after them,” Lopez said.
