Puregold to open 8 more stores in second half of 2025

Grocery chain operator Puregold Price Club Inc. plans to open eight more stores in the second half of 2025 to sustain its growth momentum.

The supermarket chain plans to open stores in Northern and Southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao. It recently opened an outlet in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte, marking its first store in the province.

The expansion supports Puregold’s goal of reaching more micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), while promoting countryside growth and offering affordable products to Filipino families.

“Our vision is to have a Puregold branch within reach for every Filipino MSME and every Filipino family across the country. We want to make everyday products more accessible to them through best value pricing and greater presence,” said Puregold president Vincent Co.

The company operates had 764 stores nationwide as of end-June 2025, including 666 Puregold stores, 31 S&R Membership Shopping Warehouses and 67 S&R New York Style QSRs.

Puregold saw its consolidated net income increase 7.1 percent in the first six months to P5.3 billion from P4.95 billion a year ago on strong topline growth and stable gross margins.

Sales improved 11 percent to P109.87 billion in the first half of 2025 from P98.5 billion a year earlier on the back of strong same-store sales growth, which climbed 6.4 percent, higher basket size and increase in foot traffic.

The growth was also boosted by the full operations of 26 new Puregold stores and four new S&R warehouses in 2024, as well as 166 new Puregold stores and one S&R warehouse launched so far this year.

Second-quarter income went up 4.8 percent to P2.66 billion from P2.47 billion a year ago.
