Manila Water expands sewer service to over 311,000 connections

Manila Water Company said it has expanded its sewerage and sanitation services in the east zone, providing sewer services to 311,663 connections as of June 2025.

This reflects a 4.67-percent year-on-year increase, with 13,895 additional connections compared to the same period last year. In June 2025, the company added 550 new sewer accounts.

The connections include separate, combined and hybrid systems, along with private sewage treatment plants.

Manila Water said to support its sewer coverage, it is accelerating key infrastructure projects in Mandaluyong, Marikina, Taguig, Quezon City and Antipolo.

The projects include the Aglipay Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), the Hinulugang Taktak STP, the Marikina North–Batasan diversion project and segments of both the Taguig North Network and the Quezon City East Network.

Manila Water also said that in the first half of 2025, its sanitation program desludged 68,536 septic tanks, including 12,841 in June.

“Expanding sewerage and sanitation services is not just about infrastructure—it’s about protecting communities and the environment. We are fully committed to ensuring that more households benefit from safe and reliable wastewater services,” said Manila Water communication affairs group director Jeric Sevilla.
