GSIS offers immediate aid to those insured and affected by Typhoon Carina

Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is reaching out to all government agencies, local government units and its members as it begins the process of identifying those with claims in the aftermath of Typhoon Carina and effects of the Habagat.

“We are urging those that are affected to promptly report the damage as this will help the GSIS process claims more efficiently. We thank our members and pensioners for trusting the GSIS in protecting them,” GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said.

“The GSIS is ready to assist policyholders by swiftly processing claims and compensating for covered damages after appropriate evaluation” Veloso said as he added that “filing your claim is the crucial first step towards recovery. Document the damage with photos or videos to facilitate a smoother claim process.”

In briefings with those affected, the GSIS is encouraging those insured by the system to document property and vehicle damage with photos or videos and keep records of emergency repairs. Vehicle owners are reminded not to start flooded engines and to disconnect batteries. Claimants should not dispose of the damaged items without the approval of the insurance adjuster.

For non-motor claims, required documents include a Notice of Loss, Floor Plan or Building Plan, a Bill of Materials signed by a licensed professional, labeled photos of the damaged property, acquisition documents, and an inventory of affected items.

Motor car claims require a Notice of Loss, vehicle registration, driver’s license, incident report or affidavit, repair estimates, photos of the damaged vehicle, the latest official receipt (OR) of registration, OR of the driver’s license (if the vehicle was driven at the time of the flooding) and a trip ticket or Property Acknowledgement Receipt for government vehicles, if applicable.

For assistance, concerned parties may call the GSIS Marketing Department at 7-976-4900 local 3431 or marketing@gsis.gov.ph. The GSIS Claims Department can be reached at 7-976-4900 local 4460 and 4462 for non-motor claims, and 7-976-4900 local 4654, 3305, 3441, 3446, and 3342 for motor car claims, or via email at NonMotorClaims@gsis.gov.ph and MotorClaims@gsis.gov.ph respectively.
