Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista and other heads of departments sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) creating the Maritime Industry Tripartite Council (MITC) to improve the welfare and safety of Filipino seafarers. MITC, composed of representatives from attached agencies of the DOTr, Department of Migrant Workers and Department of Labor and Employment and Department of Transportation, is tasked to resolve maritime labor and employment issues to promote industrial peace.
