ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. will give cash awards to 80 student-athletes, who won in their respective field of sports in the Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA), after the city here garnered 21 gold, 19 silver, and 40 bronze medals during the annual sporting event last April 24 to 28.
The 21 CLRAA gold medalists will each receive P10,000; the 19 silver medalists will each be given P7,000, while P5,000 awaits each bronze medalist.
A total of P543,000 from the Local School Board and funds from Office of the Mayor will be allotted for the awards and recognition of the student-athletes.
Mayor Lazatin said this move is to give recognition to the students, who strived hard to bring honor to the city.
“Maliit na bagay lamang po ito, para sa ibinigay na karalangan ng ating mga kabataang atletang Angeleño, patuloy po ang pagbigay natin ng suporta sa kanila upang magtuluy-tuloy po ang kanilang paghasa sa kanilang mga talento sa palakasan,” Lazatin said.
Among the gold medalists were Angel Luis Rendon, Althea Villavicencio, Sophia Legaspi, Jay-M Calahan, Richard Santiago, Jervie Bartaculo, Tristan Gabriel Yabut for ParaGames; Heinin Max Willem for Table Tennis; Quwyncy Lee Ilan for Taekwondo; Sebastian Paul Soriano for
Athletics; Carlos Joaquin Herrera, Ian Patrick Aquino, Ming Tai Chen, Cris Jemuel Mallari, Riannah Chantelle Coleman, Szyreal Jones Chaneco, Zoe Baldemor, and Jerlin Raumei Valencia for Swimming; and the Angeles City Volleyball Secondary Girls Team.
Ethaniel Santos, Eiron Nallatan, Ijurly Archie Bautista, Aleny Therese Lopez, Ralf Aldhjren Fabian, Hanzson Manlutac, Rhafael Topacio, Santiago, Legaspi, and Calahan for ParaGames; Jhazz Mark Castillo, Alwin Cayzer David and Lebron James Pangilinan for Arnis; Ivan Zigmond Villanueva for Taekwondo; Bianca Valerio for Athletics; Sean Luis Tria, Liam Jacob David, Julian Willems, Shawn Matthew Tria, and Aquino for Swimming took home silver medals.
Meanwhile, bronze medalists were Angeline Galang, Ramona Avril Yayen, Michel Jash Guntan, Jhilliana Reian Supnet, Nallatan, Lopez for ParaGames; Iris Biel Sarmiento, Castillo, David, and Pangilinan for Arnis; Joshua Rain Sabian and Pia Kristel Garcia for Table Tennis; Jhake Ortega, Jeremiah Caleb, Ivan Louis Castro, and Ethan Matthew Tiotuico for Tennis; Sophia Nicole Garcia, Richmond Goloya, Red Arkrey Rivera, Eirik Panganiban, Derick Lagbao, Andrew Laurence Callejo, Jwelle Mei Castillo, Caroline Weeko Balajadia, Alliana Orina, Ayen Ysabelle Arceo, and Mary Heary Capulong for Taekwondo; Clea Carreon for Badminton; Caitlin Ferguson for Gymnastics; Saraelysia Patel, Yunica De Castro, Audrey Gueco, Renesmae Liuna Morales, Daniel Jonas Ocampo, Vaughn Cabrera, Coleman, Chaneco, Mallari, and Aquino for Swimming; and the Angeles City Basketball Secondary Boys Team, and Chess Team.
Some 417 student-athletes competed in the CLRAA.
Each student-athlete received free playing shoes, uniforms, parade polo shirts, joggers, hoodies, bags, caps and travel mattresses from the city government before the regional meet started.
Mayor Lazatin said the active support that these students received is a way to motivate them and boost their morale for taking pride in representing Angeles City.
Part of the flagship programs of Mayor Lazatin is to promote youth sports development, an avenue to instill in them the values of discipline, sportsmanship, and excellence.
