Some stores along Ongpin Street in Manila’s Santa Cruz district put on display lucky charms, particularly mouse figurines in different sizes, ready to welcome 2020—the Year of the Rat in Chinese zodiac. In Chinese culture, rat as the first of all zodiac animals is a sign of wealth and surplus. People born under this sign are believed to be industrious and thrifty, diligent and positive.
