A Manila Police District policeman was detained by the police after he was caught firing his service firearm indiscriminately during the New Year’s celebration in Tondo.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde said PO1 Daniel Castillo, 29, assigned to MPD Station 1 indiscriminately fired his gun during the New Year revelry.

Albayalde said Castillo has been placed under police custody. Police investigation showed that Castillo fired his gun indiscriminately after he got drunk during merry-making, hours before the clock ticked to 2017.
But Albayalde said Castillo’s case is “isolated” as most of the NCR police followed the strict order to refrain from firing their service firearms indiscriminately.
