At least 30 newsmakers from Northern Luzon will be honored by the Capitol Post regional newsweekly Thursday evening at the President Hotel in Lingayen, Pangasinan during its 2nd anniversary celebration.
Led by former President His Excellency Fidel V. Ramos and Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., the honorees will be cited for their outstanding contributions to national growth and development, said Mita Sison-Duque, Capitol Post publisher.
Other notable Ilocanos who will be honored are former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Senators Grace Poe and Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Rev. Luis Antonio Tagle.
The birth of the paper, Duque said was inspired by her late father, former Justice Porfirio V. Sison, a former journalist in the 30s and 40s.
Former Manila Bulletin reporter Jun Velasco is the paper’s editor in chief.
Its ofice is located at the President Hotel, birthplace of former President Ramos, along Maramba Boulevard, named after Pangasinan ‘s first governor Don Daniel Maramba.
Other honorees are Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino Jr., Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Luis Singson, Former Rep Mark Cojuangco, PNP Chief Ricardo C. Marquez, Lyceum Northwestern University president Francisco T. Duque III, Colegio de Dagupan president Dr. Voltaire Arzadon, Board Member Amado “Pogi” Espino III, Rep. Gina de Venecia, Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil, Secretary Antonio Villar Jr., Dr. Cezar T. Quiambao, engineer Rosendo So, Party-list Rep.
