We were able to catch up with the recent Manila Auto Salon 2022 last Sunday and the cavernous SMX Convention Hall was teeming with car enthusiasts and even gun lovers as the gun show is a part and parcel of it.
We were surprised to hear and see the organizer, Sophie de los Santos, hosting the awarding ceremony as trophies were awarded to the various winners of the competition when we arrived.
We toured the whole area and, as usual in all car shows, grappled with the other attendees for precious space as the whole area was cramped with small and huge vehicles.
Carryboy Philippines Inc., according to its company presentation, has been engaged in automotive business providing fashionable and functional accessories for pick-up trucks, cars, SUVs, and AUVs and also one of the major suppliers of OEM-car assembler in the Philippines as well as aftermarket requirements for most of the biggest car dealers and car accessories retail shops. And Jun started it all with his former Gator Cab in the late 90s.
As soon as we were introduced, Jun Ylagan immediately rattled off introductions to all their exhibits such as the stylish and trend-setting canopies atop rugged pick-ups, roll bars, roller-lids, “superlids”, serving as pick-up bed covers.
A roof top tent that is very popular nowadays as camping overnight and enjoying the outdoors is on hand for everybody to see. Jun said that it is fully packed with accessories that can be set up within 10 minutes on the rooftop of your pickup truck. A durable high-quality poly-cotton breathable fabric covers your family as you enjoy camping outdoors. Ahhh…with the roof tent and your pickup truck, it’s very easy to conquer the countryside at any given time and weather.
One piece of advice from Jun: “It is much better if those who would want to go camping with their pickup truck must have a 4 x 4 since they can easily traverse the muddied tracks.”
More on camping, Jun also showed us the growing popularity of having retractable camping boxes placed on bedliners complete with all the amenities of cooking and eating outdoors from cooking stoves, kitchen wares to sinks.
And yes, we definitely love those various bed covers which Jun painstakingly introduced to us one by one.

But one thing that caught our eyes was the new cover named Revolver by Der Armor that needs no removing the whole cover so you can access the bed in full. It is very sturdy and can be rolled up quickly, manually or electrically. “This is getting to be very popular now among the pickup owners since it is very strong and durable and can easily be rolled up very quickly. It is readily available for Hilux, Navara, D-Max, Wildtrak, Raptor, and BT-50s,” according to Jun.
With this number of innovative ideas on car accessories being presented by Jun Ylagan III and also by a great number of his colleagues who participated in the successful Manila Auto Salon 2022, no wonder why the after-sales market is really burgeoning.
