The Young Deaf Summit (YDS) 2025 convened students and advocates from various institutions to develop leadership skills among Deaf youth and promote positive change in the community.
Now in its sixth year, the event was organized by De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s (DLS-CSB) School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies (SDEAS) under the theme “Empowering Deaf Youth: Leading Change for the Future.” Participants took part in workshops and panel discussions aimed at fostering awareness and advocacy.

Ana Dominique Limbaring, a licensed professional teacher, delivered the keynote address on the role of education in community-building and the importance of diversity in leadership. A panel discussion featured Benildean Deaf Association president Jeselou San Buenaventura, 30th Deaf Festival chairperson Ejay Boy Tena, SDEAS Social Responsibility and Outreach Program volunteer Romulo Porral III, and former BDA president Kristopher Lee Ascaño, who shared their experiences on overcoming challenges and pursuing careers that benefit the Deaf community.

Students from institutions including the Philippine School for the Deaf, La Salle Green Hills Alternative Education, Manila High School, and Miriam College Senior High School participated in the event. Also in attendance were SDEAS Dean Marian Patricia Bea Francisco, Applied Deaf Studies Program chairperson Ana Kristina Arce, and Center for Partnership and Development OIC head Gerrell Angeles.
The summit also featured interactive activities such as carnival games, raffles, and a performance by Silent Steps, a Deaf performing arts group.
