Lalamove promotes road safety

Monsoon rain and floods are heavily affecting the road users of Metro Manila. We aren’t just talking about motor vehicles. Pedestrians, commuters, and PWDs also bear the brunt of snarled traffic. Everyone, from students to senior citizens, has to deal with bad weather that creates heavy traffic and increases the rate of accidents.

With the rising dependency on on-demand delivery services, business owners and frequent users rely on these delivery apps even more heavily this rainy season. Lalamove, being the leading on-demand delivery app in the metro, sees this growing demand as an opportunity to also remind their partner drivers to prioritize their safety on the road.

Lalamove promotes road safety
Lalamove drivers are required to undergo safety seminars.

In partnership with Honda Safety Driving Center and road safety advocate James Deakin, Lalamove launches the Angat ang Maingat campaign to ensure safety for their growing partner driver community. They previously held safety seminars, but it only reaches a handful of people compared to their sizable 35,000 base.

“Our goal is to prevent any road accident for all Lalamove partner drivers. We started by conducting safety seminars and realised that safety promotion is a continuous effort that goes beyond training. We needed to promote this through constantly communicating its importance and how everyone contributes to road safety. Through this, we developed a program with Honda Safety Driving Center and James Deakin to send a message that safety is the key to success for our partner drivers: “Angat ang maingat, partner”.

According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, there were 101,428 road crashes in the National Capital Region last year, of which 336 lives were lost. Even though Lalamove provides personal accident insurance for all drivers,  Majarocon says  that it’s best if there will never be a use for it. Lalamove is optimistic that their safety campaign will reach and re-educate all their partner drivers them to be cautious and to uphold quality services at all times.
