The Philippines may be dubbed as the rising tiger of Asia but in the logistics sector, it is still far from reaching its full potential. According to the 2016 World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI), the country ranks 71 among 160 countries while Malaysia is at the 32nd spot, Thailand at 46, Indonesia at 63, and Vietnam at 64. Singapore made it to the top 5. To play catch up, the industry must aim for transformation and reinvention.

“There are a lot of challenges for the logistics sector. To start with we are an archipelago, much of the economic activity and developments over the past years have been concentrated in the major cities of Manila, Cebu, and Davao, and then you throw in traffic and port congestion. The industry has it going tough,” shared Patrick-Lawrence Tan, CEO of Global-Link MP Events International, Inc. “That’s why five years ago, we decided to launch Transport and Logistics Philippines – a trade show that would not only highlight products and technologies for this industry but connect the stakeholders to people who may have a solution for a challenge they are facing and this includes the aftermarket industry as well.”

Since it started in 2013, Transport & Logistics Philippines has brought together hundreds of manufacturers and distributors of commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, and supply chain technologies with thousands more professionals in the industry. This time, it will present a bigger showcase at the SMX Convention Center Manila on August 17 to 19 along with a focused knowledge-sharing forum where a select group of experts will share practice-based insights to help logistics companies move forward.

“One of this year’s goals is to strengthen awareness of the new policies, facilitate adoption of best practices, and, at the same time, promote and maximize the exposure of emerging technologies,” shared Tan. The forum will only be limited to a small group. Interested delegates may inquire by emailingregine.aragon@globallinkmp.com. “There will also be several international pavilions focusing on the aftermarket industry for auto, trucks and motorcycle looking for local distributors and partners in the Philippines. Business opportunities will be in abundance at the show,” Tan added.

The expo, on the other hand, is expected to bring together more than 300 brands of vehicles, machineries, products, and technologies including Isuzu Philippines, Caltex, Chevron, JVF Commercial, Hino Motors PH, Autokid, Conequip Phils Inc., Shell, Mober, and many more. Held coinciding this event is the Automechanic Philippines where top distributors of auto aftermarket parts and accessories are gathered in one comprehensive pavilion. To get your visitor pass, register online atwww.globallinkmp.com/transportandlogistics or www.globallinkmp.com/automechanicphilippines or keep posted through Facebook: @TransportandLogisticsPH / @AutomechanicPH.

Other participants include All Prime International, Asia Global, Centro Mfg., Colent Marketing, D Squared Technology, Dennis International, Giant Mercantile,  Golden Great AP Dragon, Gradance Industrial, G-Technica Equipment, Johnstown Trading, Landlite Philippines, LPI Rack Range Phils, Man Automotive Concessionaire, MHE-Demag, Mitsibishi Motors, Pilipinas Taj Autogroup (Tata), Pioneer Truck Parts & Equipment, Powerlifter Phils Inc., Prime Quest Transport, Ravago Equipment Rentals, Sanko Plastics, Sobida Motors Corp, Solid Machinery & Diesel, Target Display, United Solid Facility and many more.

Transport and Logistics Philippines is held alongside Manufacturing Technology World, a showcase of industrial machinery and equipment, as well as the China Machinery and Electronic Brand Show, an event by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronics that has been bringing top Chinese manufacturers looking for business partners and distributors in the Philippines for the past thirteen years.
