Taguig City witnessed a significant milestone in sustainable mobility as Shell Pilipinas Corporation, in collaboration with NEO, a sustainable real estate leader, unveiled their latest offering: the Shell Recharge EV charging station at Seven/NEO Bonifacio Global City (BGC). Exciting news for electric vehicle (EV) drivers, as the charging services at Seven/NEO BGC are currently available free of charge. This new addition expands the Shell Recharge network, which now includes ultra-rapid charging stations at Shell SLEX Mamplasan and the recently opened Shell TPLEX exit in Rosario La Union.

The Shell Recharge station at Seven/NEO BGC features two AC22kW charging points, capable of simultaneously charging two vehicles with up to 22kWh per point. Emphasizing its commitment to sustainable decarbonization, the charging location operates on 100% renewable energy sourced from geothermal power. Notably, this is Shell’s first globally powered geothermal charger, highlighting their dedication to environmentally friendly solutions.

During the opening event, the first electric vehicles to utilize the charging station were Shell’s own fleet of electric service vehicles, which are employed to support Shell staff at Shell Business Operations Manila. Shell Vice President for Mobility, Randy Del Valle, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Shell is already a global leader in the EV space, and we are delighted to collaborate with our customers and partners across the private and public sectors as we drive decarbonization in mobility and power progress in the Philippines. NEO, as a leader in sustainable real estate, shares Shell’s vision of a lower carbon future.”

NEO, known for its commitment to sustainability, boasts the country’s first net-zero portfolio of buildings, certified by both the Philippine Green Building Council’s (PhilGBC) Advancing Net Zero Philippines and the International Finance Corporation’s EDGE Zero Carbon. NEO CEO Raymond Rufino, who also serves on the Urban Land Institute FY24 advisory board, leads the organization.

With the introduction of the Shell Recharge EV charging station at Seven/NEO BGC, Taguig City takes a significant step towards promoting sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions. This collaboration between Shell and NEO exemplifies their shared commitment to building a greener future for the Philippines.
