AirAsia PH boosts Taipei flights amid soaring demand

AirAsia Philippines is increasing its flight frequency to Taipei, Taiwan from 14 to 17 times weekly starting this July.

This comes as the airline observes a significant surge in travel demand between Manila and Taipei, establishing Taipei as one of its top-performing international destinations.

The airline has maintained a robust average load factor of 85 percent on its Taipei route. From January to June 2025 alone, AirAsia Philippines transported over 70,000 passengers to Taipei.

This number is projected to climb even higher following the extension of visa-free entry for Filipino travelers to Taiwan until July 31, 2026, for stays up to 14 days.

“The additional flights come at the perfect time as we enter Q3 and gear up for the peak travel season. This move gets us ready for the expected surge in demand during the ‘Ber’ months, when many Filipinos head to Taipei to enjoy its cooler climate from September through February,” Suresh Bangah, AirAsia Philippines president and chief executive said.

“It also allows us to serve our guests better by offering more options and flexibility whether they’re flying for leisure, business, or to reconnect with family and friends,” he added.

In addition to expanding flight frequencies, AirAsia Philippines continues to strengthen its 15 + 1 fleet to meet the rising demand across both domestic and international routes, reaffirming its commitment to accessible and reliable travel for all.

AirAsia is a leading low-cost carrier with licenses to operate in five Asean countries—Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia.

The airline has made flying affordable and accessible to over 800 million guests, connecting people and communities across more than 130 destinations.

It operates more than 200 aircraft and holds a significant orderbook for the next decade.
