The Department of Information and Communications Technology, together with tech giant Microsoft Corporation launched a free upskilling initiative for government employees on Tuesday.

Microsoft has partnered with DICT’s Information and Communications Technology Literacy and Competency Bureau to provide the educational portal for over 800,000 government employees, where they can access technology courses to enhance their relevance, knowledge, and skills in ICT.

According to DICT, this program can help assist the national government agencies to gather the necessary information and skills needed in the ever-growing digital economy.

The learning portal is released free of charge, with users having access to training modules covering subjects such as technology, management and finance, and many others. This initiative is aimed to upskill and reskill civil servants, which they can use to enhance their quality of service.

The information department also added that this program can help align government workers’ skills and talents with the new normal.

The partnership between DICT and Microsoft was formalized in December last year through a memorandum of agreement, DICT said.
