UnionBank’s Employee App is ‘Best in Asia’ by The Asian Banker

Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) recently received the Best HR Technology Initiative, Application or Programme for 2019 in Asia at the Asian Banker Financial Technology Innovation Awards 2019 held at Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Asian Banker – considered as the region’s most authoritative provider of strategic business intelligence to the financial community – recognized UnionBank’s for its 1UHub, a centralized, all-around HR platform developed and designed by UnionBankers for UnionBankers, delivering accessible, sustainable, and cost-saving solutions to HR processes.

True to form as the Philippines’ Best Digital Bank, UnionBank’s Human Resources department produced 1UHub (One UnionBanker Hub) – a by-product of its obsession to deliver the most customer-centric experience for its employees.

1UHub focuses on giving a seamless employee usage experience as its user interface is intuitive and easy to understand. No training nor user-guides needed to use the application. 1UHub also features several user-authentication options such as your usual passwords, fingerprint scan, or one-time pin alternatives. 

1UHub is focused on three main components namely: (1) culture, (2) physical environment, and (3) technology. Culture creates a legitimate sense of purpose and reason for being. Physical environment intelligently designs spaces that champions the brand purpose and values. Technology, on the other hand, creates organic human interactions with technological workplace tools that promote seamless transitions.

Before 1UHub, the employees used several microsites that require different passwords and access. One of 1UHub’s goal is to be a “Single Source of Truth” as it stores all employee information and organizational information across the employee lifecycle. 

To date, 1UHub has performed beyond expectations, as it fully automated more than 50% of HR processes available in the organization. The organization supports sustainability as printed forms are reduced 100% since data is now stored digitally. Implementation of a straight-through-process (STP) via the digital platform also resulted in reducing processing time for applications by 98.43%. Since its launch on January 2018, 1UHub has already reduced an estimated P8 million in costs.
