Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has announced a voluntary recall affecting select models due to safety concerns regarding the High-Pressure Fuel Pump and Steering Gearbox. The company’s commitment to customer safety drives this proactive measure to address potential risks associated with these components.
The High-Pressure Fuel Pump recall affects specific CR-V RS e:HEV E-CVT models from the 2023 to 2024 production years. Cracks found in the Core B of these fuel pumps may lead to gasoline fumes, which could be noticeable to drivers while idling or driving. HCPI has identified 1,351 units that require inspection, which will be conducted free of charge.
In addition, HCPI is recalling 5,505 units for issues related to the Steering Gearbox. Customers may experience snagging, unusual sounds, or vibrations while turning the steering wheel. This problem arises from a decrease in grease within the worm gear meshing area of the Electric Power Steering Gearbox, resulting in increased sliding resistance and torque fluctuations. Such conditions may lead to a feeling of unease while driving.
Importantly, HCPI has reported no accidents or incidents related to either recall in the Philippines. The company expresses its apologies for any inconvenience these recalls may cause and emphasizes the importance of addressing these issues promptly.
Affected customers are encouraged to seek inspections and replacements at any of the 38 Honda Cars dealerships and three service centers nationwide starting January 17, 2025.
