The 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit saw the launch of BYD’s latest performance innovation: The Seal. The manufacturer’s latest EV sedan model aims to become a primary option for those looking to find a vehicle in its category – including its ICE competitors.

The BYD Seal features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that delivers 529 PS and 670 Nm of torque. This setup allows it to zoom from 0 to 100 km/h in about 3.8 seconds, making it a strong contender for performance enthusiasts. Its 82.6 kWh Blade Battery offers a range of up to 580 km on a single charge, which is a practical feature for those considering longer drives.

One standout innovation is the Cell-to-Body Technology, which integrates the battery into the vehicle’s structure. This design potentially enhances handling and stiffness. The Intelligent Torque Adaptation Control (iTAC) system aims to improve traction management, promoting better performance and safety.

The exterior design is modern and eye-catching, featuring an X-design concept and LED lighting. The BYD Seal also received the iF Design Award in 2023. With dimensions of 4,800 mm in length and 1,875 mm in width, it offers ample space for passengers and cargo.

Inside, the cabin includes a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch infotainment system, both equipped with various digital features and wireless connectivity options. The interior aims for a premium feel, featuring leather upholstery and comfort-enhancing amenities.

The BYD Seal is equipped with eight airbags and the DiPilot Advanced Driver Assistance System, which includes features like adaptive cruise control and lane departure warnings. The vehicle has also earned 5-star safety ratings from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP, showcasing its commitment to safety.

The Seal will come in four color choices: Arctic Blue, Atlantis Gray, Cosmos Black, and Aurora White. It’s priced at Php 2,548,000 and includes several warranty options, such as an 8-year or 160,000-km warranty for the Blade Battery and a 6-year or 150,000-km vehicle warranty.
