Jumpstart your career as a racer, be a track star for a day

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) officially kicked off their 2022 motorsports calendar starting with their long-running motorsports training program which aims at imparting key learnings for a better driving and road safety craft, as well as opening doors into the local motorsports scene.

Held last June 29 at the Clark International Speedway (CIS), the Toyota Gazoo Racing Academy PH held their first session this year in partnership with Tuason Racing. Formerly known as the Toyota Racing School, the academy drew a number of up-and-coming names in the sport, driving enthusiasts, and aspiring racers to a whole day of comprehensive race skills training and track experience.

A team of highly experienced and awarded race drivers ensured that each participant gets to bring home a huge chunk of learning, all whilst wearing huge smiles on their faces after an occasion like no other.

The “Basic Circuit Car” class, which is known to have housed some of the country’s figured names in the sport, including eventual Toyota Vios Cup champions, started things off with a 1-hour classroom session where students were briefed on the “dos and don’ts” of driving around a race track, as well as essential tips to drive the right, safe way—regardless of the speed you’re on.

A two hour’s worth of driving drills onboard the Vios Cup “One-Make Race” (OMR) cars came soon after. This included an acceleration-brake test, a slalom exercise, and a five-lap session around CIS. And for those new drivers who have pre-booked a race seat for this year’s Vios Cup, a supplemental “Level 2 – Advanced” class was conducted wherein proper race craft and key techniques were introduced and honed.

The second Toyota Gazoo Racing Academy (TGRA) session is set on June 26, 2022, also to be held at Clark International Speedway – just a week before the highly anticipated opening round of the 2022 Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup. Race fans may visit Toyota Motor Philippines’ official website and social media channels for updates and registration procedures, as well as announcements on other upcoming events and new model launches.
