DHSUD Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario on Tuesday led the MOA-signing event at the Central Office in line with the department’s second anniversary celebration together with Alpha-3 Technologies chief executive officer Kristin Bangot and other officials of partner-service providers.

The MOA will pave the way for the BALAI-Net project being proposed by Alpha-3 Technologies.

Key officials from the National Housing Authority (NHA) and Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), as well as representatives from Alpha-3 Technologies and some partner-developers, witnessed the event.

Under the pact, Alpha-3 intends to partner with DHSUD and its attached corporations in establishing a linkage with the government housing sector as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. The MOA covers the provision of Internet access to residents of resettlement sites nominated and selected by DHSUD, SHFC and NHA.

The BALAI-Net project is expected to have a bandwidth of up to 100 mbps per household for every selected relocation site, a guaranteed 99.99% uptime and a redundant network.

"This pact is part of the government efforts in providing Filipino families with modern housing communities nationwide equipped with necessary infrastructure facilities including information technology," Secretary Del Rosario stressed.

"This undertaking is another proof that great things can be achieved through effective partnership between the government and private sector," he noted.

DHSUD and its attached corporations are responsible for identifying and selecting the resettlement sites eligible for the project while Alpha-3 Technologies and its partners would ensure quality and consistent wi-fi service under the agreement, as well as install the necessary network infrastructure or make the necessary repair, replacement and maintenance of the Internet service.

Meanwhile, Secretary Del Rosario also spearheaded the administering of oath for the Organization of the Socialized and Economic Housing Developers of the Philippines (OSHDP) 2021 Officers.

The oathtaking is likewise part of the series of events marking the housing department’s second anniversary. OSHDP Chairman Marcelino Mendoza and President Paolo Giovani Olivares both delivered their messages of commitment.

For his part, Secretary Del Rosario called on OSHDP to continue coordinating with DHSUD and its key shelter agencies in fulfilling the department’s mandate of providing sustainable, resilient and affordable housing communities to Filipinos, especially the underprivileged and those from low-income groups.

"The OSHDP has been pivotal in ensuring the housing and real estate industry's resiliency. We at DHSUD are proud to have them as a partner in serving the Filipino people," the housing czar said.

He likewise called on the organization to unite with the department in strengthening further its campaign against real estate scammers and roll out more measures in safeguarding the interests of both homebuyers and housing stakeholders, particularly legitimate sellers and real estate developers.
