Filipinos love to eat and prepare food for their families. Thus, in a time like a pandemic, Filipino home cooks thrive and grabe the opportunity to not just bond over food but as well as make cooking a source of alternative income while on quarantine.

Country’s fastest growing home cook community gives livelihood package on its 2nd year

Let’s Cook, Pare! The country’s fastest growing home-cook community in social media platform, Facebook, surprised two lucky home-cooks with a Livelihood Starter Package worth over P50k!

In light of the pandemic, when a lot of people lost their sources of income, Let’s Cook, Pare worked with its partners in giving two of their members a Livelihood Started Package. The prize intends to help the members start a home based business to augment or have a source of income. Zoilo Binag and Lorie Banila Jogno was chosen in a live raffle draw from among 7k plus entries.

Let’s Cook, Pare was created by Jeff Chua and Archie Chua, and later on joined by friends and family members. Both share the same passion about food. People often flex their food pics from restos, the creators who both loves food and cooking wanted to form a community where people can share their home-cooked, recipes, that were either original, passed on from generations or inspired by others. Five admins, among them brothers, Jeff and Vince Chua of the Bigbert’s Professional Detailers; Archie Chua of Crystal Lamps; Liberty Insurance executive, Bobet Arandia, and Chariza Salgado, an experienced PR and marketing professional, oversees the community.

“During the ECQ, the group’s membership soared, from 10k, to now more than 90k. The Let’s Cook, Pare community became a creative outlet for its members and allowed them to get connected outside of their homes. The members actively participated in community discussions and shared their home cooked meals. A number of members as far as those living in Middle Eastern countries, shared that from the recipes they got from the page, some of them were able to start their home based food selling business,” said Chariza Salgado, one of Let’s Cook, Pare’s admin.

At the time of ECQ members confined in their homes tried to cope up with the new normal by actively engaging other members of the community, most of whom are looking for an outlet that allows them to continue interacting with others outside of their homes; at the same time take advantage of a platform that let them flex their ‘creations’ and enjoy their dreams of living a ‘chef-life’.

Let’s Cook, Pare believes in sharing of knowledge and information. The community promotes positivity and positive reinforcement. For the LCP family, sharing is caring/giving. That's why everyone in the community work hard together.

Aside from helping its members, the Let’s Cook, Pare community was also able to extend help to the country’s SMES’s and some corporate brands by allowing the community to be an accessible online platform where they were able to sell food and other relevant kitchen/home cooking appliances, items, etc. A number of members here and abroad likewise shared that recipes they got from the community inspired them to start their own food selling business that allow them to have an alternative source of income. To date, the community has around 200 individual sellers from all over the country and a few overseas.

Corporate brands who believes in the community’s vision supported LCP by sponsoring weekly giveaway contests that helped sustain a continuing active engagement in the community.

On its 2nd anniversary, Let’s Cook, Pare partnered with Nestle Professional, Nestea House Blend, Maggi Professional, Tocoms Philippines, Inc. for Russel Hobbs, Masflex Philippines, McCormick, Arla, CDO, Lemon Square, Tecnogas Technik, All About Coffee, Hunts, for the Livelihood Starter Package of the 2 lucky winners.
