Champions of Sustainability and Excellence in Leadership Honored at the 8th Nation Builders & MOSLIV Awards

PARAÑAQUE, Philippines – The 8th Nation Builders & MOSLIV Awards were successfully held on March 21, 2025, at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila, uniting a distinguished group of leaders, innovators, and advocates dedicated to advancing sustainability, governance, and social responsibility. Organized by Sustainability Standards, Inc., this prestigious event celebrates individuals and organizations whose exceptional contributions in leadership, empowerment, environmental stewardship, corporate social responsibility, and sustainable development are shaping a brighter future for all.

This year’s 8th Nation Builders & MOSLIV Awards brought together 1,000 distinguished guests, including government officials, business leaders, social advocates, and young changemakers committed to nation-building and sustainable development. The awards celebrated visionaries who have made significant contributions to environmental conservation, corporate social responsibility, and the advancement of sustainable development goals (SDGs).

The ceremony underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving sustainability milestones. U.S. Senator Shelly V. Calvo delivered a compelling keynote address, emphasizing the role of leadership and empowerment in fostering a sustainable future. Meanwhile, Senator Mark Villar highlighted the significance of sustainable programs and policies in driving long-term progress, while former Senator Leila De Lima stressed the power of empowerment in overcoming socio-environmental challenges. Ambassador Mache Torres Ackerman and Commissioner Albert P. Dela Cruz, Sr. of the Climate Change Commission further reinforced the urgency of climate action and policy innovation.

Public officials and government leaders were recognized for their unwavering commitment to sustainable governance. Among them were Hon. Gustavo S. Tambunting (Parañaque City 2nd District), Hon. Emmarie “Lolypop” M. Ouano-Dizon (Lone District of Mandaue City), Hon. Ernesto M. Dionisio, Jr. (Isabela 4th District), Hon. Eric Go Yap (Benguet, Lone District), and Hon. Romulo “Kid” Peña, Jr. (Makati City 1st District), who were awarded as Honorary Congressman and Congresswoman of the Year. The Honorary Public Servant of the Year – Excellence in Peace and Nation Building was awarded to Hon. Edwin I. Jubahib (Governor, Davao Del Norte), Usec. Serafin P. Barretto, Jr. (DILG – Public Safety), RD Eduardo C. De Guzman (LTO – Law Enforcement Service Safety Division), and Engr. Paquito T. Moreno, Jr. (DENR – Cordillera Administrative Region). Other notable honorees included Hon. Imelda G. Calixto-Rubiano (Mayor, Pasay City), Hon. Lovely Reynoso-Pontioso (Mayor, Tayabas City, Quezon), Hon. John Marvin “Yul Servo” C. Nieto (Vice Mayor, Manila City), and Hon. Bernard “Ninong” C. Dela Cruz (Vice Mayor, Malabon City).

In the private sector, outstanding executives were recognized for their dedication to sustainability. Mr. Derrick M. Tan (CEO, Magna Prime Chemical Technologies, Inc.), Mr. Diosdado G. Serviento (President & CEO, Biostar Nutriproducts, Inc.), Mr. Renz Calvin C. Estrella (President & CEO, Zenith Capital), Engr. Medel M. Usona (Chairman & CEO, ZMW Group Corp.), Dr. Ningthoukhongjam Ibohal Singh (Founder, Pope John Paul II Hospital and Medical Center), and Dr. Maricar P. Threadgill (CEO, Carolines Aesthetic & Wellness Clinic) were honored as CEOs of the Year. Additionally, Mr. Bernardino “Bernie” D. Caramba (Chairman & President, PMS – Prime Power Network, Inc.) and Ms. Cristhel Fraulein Gardoce Bulabon (Founder, Mrs. Earth International) were recognized for their philanthropy and social impact.

Several local government units (LGUs) and organizations were commended for their contributions to sustainability. Tayabas (Quezon), Kidapawan (Cotabato), and Cauayan (Isabela) were named Certified Most Sustainable and Liveable Cities, while Arayat (Pampanga) was recognized as the Most Sustainable and Liveable Municipality. Educational institutions such as Davao De Oro State College, Negros Maritime College Foundation, Inc., and Eastern Samar State University were honored for their commitment to sustainability in education. Corporations and businesses at the forefront of sustainability were also acknowledged. Magna Prime Chemical Technologies, Inc. and Biostar Nutriproducts, Inc. received the Certified Most Sustainable and Liveable Company award, while Malayan Insurance was named the Certified Most Sustainable and Liveable Insurance Company. Other sectoral awards included Aqua Technologies, Inc. (Clean Water and Sustainability Champion), Solarnrg Philippines (Renewable Energy Provider of the Year), and Yovel East Research & Dev’t. Inc. (Agroecology and Sustainability Champion).

The event’s also highlight the MOSLIV Sector Awards, which recognized excellence in arts, media, and cultural sustainability. “The Baklitas” was awarded Podcast of the Year, while 106.7 EnergyFM Manila was named Radio Station of the Year. In the entertainment industry, Hiraya was recognized as the Breakthrough P-Pop Group of the Year, Mr. Jerome Granada was also awarded Best Male Vocal of the Year and Brgy. Granada Masskara Dancers received the MOSLIV Sector Award for Arts and Culture – Excellence in Sustainability.

Since its establishment in 2018, the Nation Builders & MOSLIV Awards has honored over 800 individuals and organizations, reinforcing the importance of sustainability in national and global development.

SSI President and CEO Kenneth Rocete reaffirmed the organization’s mission, stating: “We are almost halfway through the UN SDG 2030 Agenda. While we have faced challenges, our collective resilience and commitment to sustainability continue to shape a greener, more inclusive world.”

As the ceremony concluded, awardees and attendees alike were inspired to further their commitment to nation-building and environmental stewardship. The 8th Nation Builders & MOSLIV Awards stood as a testament to the power of collaboration, recognizing those who are shaping a sustainable and liveable future for generations to come.
