SM job fairs: Empowering careers in 2024, expanding opportunities in 2025

In 2024, SM Malls continued to solidify its reputation as a leading hub for job seekers and companies, hosting a series of successful job fairs across the Philippines. Mostly done in partnership with, and through the initiative of, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Public Employment Service Offices (PESO), these events not only provided job opportunities for thousands of individuals but also served as a venue for businesses looking to identify and recruit top talent to support their growth and expansion.

Highlights of 2024

  • Over 100,000 applicants participated across 180 job fairs across the country, demonstrating SM’s commitment to nation-building. 
SM Supermalls celebrates its 10,000th Hired-On-The-Spot (HOTS) placement since launching its weekly job fairs in January 2024, with Jolina Manaloto, a former teacher hired as a Pharmacy Assistant at Watsons, at the job fair in SM Megamall.
  • Diverse job opportunities: From Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs) and retail giants to healthcare and Information Technology (IT), job seekers had access to positions in various companies.
Displaced information technology (IT) workers seek new career beginnings at the Project DAPAT (Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Action Plan and Transition) Job Fair in SM Mall of Asia.
  • On-the-spot hiring: Immediate interviews with hiring managers increased applicants’ chances of landing a job offer right away. 
  • Enhanced application support: Applicants were relieved to find on-site government booths that processed essential documentation—removing barriers to employment, namely National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance​, National ID​, Social Security System (SSS)​, PhilHealth​, Pag-IBIG, and Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) verification.
  • Job-seeker friendly location: Easy access to public transportation and highly visible areas inside the mall. ​

  • Comfortable spaces: Enclosed, well-ventilated venues​ with on-site amenities, where applicants enjoyed the convenience of having food options and shopping for professional attire.

A highlight of SM job fairs was the impressive turnout, with over 100,000 applicants attending more than 180 events in 2024. With a broad selection of participating companies—from IT BPO firms and retail giants to government agencies—job seekers had the opportunity to secure positions right at the event. This year, more than 14,000 individuals were hired on the spot, benefiting over 14,000 families. For many, these events provided an opportunity to jumpstart their career and pursue their passions. These events eliminate the long waiting periods typically associated with job applications.

Additionally, job fairs featured on-the-spot interviews and hiring processes, government agency booths for essential documentation, and job-seeker-friendly space with on-site amenities that further enhanced the overall experience for applicants.
