For the first time in history, the Tarlac Provincial Capitol building was bathed in rainbow colors in celebration of Pride Month. This significant initiative was made under the leadership of Governor Susan Yap, who together with the people of Tarlac affirmed their support to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Governor Yap has tirelessly championed for Tarlac to be a safe and welcoming space for people of all genders, colors, backgrounds, and beliefs in her years of public service.

As a leader known for her pro-people stance, the progressive Governor shared, “My vision for Tarlac has always been to keep the province a place where everybody and anybody can flourish and thrive in their own person, given equal opportunity to be what they wish to be, without judgement.”

Governor Susan Yap added that the Provincial Government of Tarlac has always pushed for efforts to foster an open and discrimination-free community. She firmly believes that Tarlac continues to thrive on the creativity, resourcefulness, and resilience that stems from the diversity of the community.

The rainbow lighting activity in the Capitol is the first of a series of events that the Provincial Government has planned throughout the month of June. The entire province can look forward to the Tarlac PRIDE Fair 2022 to be held at the Central Mercato from the 17th to the 19th of June.

The Pride Month headliner will feature various food offerings and delicacies from Tarlaqueño-owned businesses, an LGBTQIA+ Community Talk, and an awards event for the “Best Costume/Outfit” among the community. The fair will also feature musical performances, face-painting activities, photo booths, and free drinks for eventgoers to enjoy. There will be no entrance fees required to gather as many people join in the festivities.

“We wish to welcome everyone to be with us this Pride Month as we join hands as one province not just in celebration of our LGBTQIA+ community but in our diversity and our positivity,” ended Governor Yap.
