Learning today has gone beyond books and outside the four corners of classrooms. From looking for ways on how to solve a chemical equation, searching for cross-stitching ideas for that next crafts project, and even watching new recipe tutorials, anyone who is eager to learn know best to go to Google or YouTube to find what they are looking for.

In time for the celebration of World Teachers’ Day, YouTube recognizes some of the young EduTubers who are using YouTube to teach skills and impart knowledge to viewers online. For anyone who have been wanting to discover a new passion or catch up on studying, here are a few local educational channels to help you get started:

For math geniuses: Numberbender

Numbers, formulas, and equations can be difficult for students, but this Filipino teacher makes it easy to comprehend for everyone. Numberbender is led by Peter Joseph Esperanza, a high school educator in California.

Esperanza uses a flipped classroom method for teaching where students watch and complete online lectures at home. His channel is their hub for curriculum-based math videos that can guide even teachers in their lesson planning. To make it easier to understand, he uploads his videos in English and in his native language Filipino. Fun fact: he was awarded the very first Filipino-American Community Hero by Kabayan Today back in 2015.

For aspiring lawyers: Lex in Motion

Anyone who is currently pursuing a juris doctor degree or are considering making a career shift to law can rely on Lex to help them in their journey. With animated videos and lectures on different law subjects, he guides future lawyers in preparing for the profession and building competence and confidence in law school.

Lex was part of YouTube NextUp Manila Class of 2019 where he shared how his passion for content creation and law education began. He says, “I believe that the best way to learn something is to teach it to someone else, and that is what I am doing through my channel. Whenever fellow law students comment on my videos, it really warms my heart and makes me feel like I am making a change.”

For history buffs: The Kirby Noodle

Helping raise awareness and appreciation for the Filipino culture, Kirby Araullo of The Kirby Noodle shares videos on everything about the Philippines’ history, language, and heritage. This Fil-Am creator has been vlogging since 2005, but it was in 2012 that he decided to create more educational and relevant videos for his kababayans and for those interested in the local culture. His most viewed video on his channel talks about 5 interesting things about the Philippine language.

Outside of his channel, Kirby continues to spread his passion for the Filipino culture as he leads workshops and sits on panel discussions about the Philippines.

For study tips and practical life lessons: Team Lyqa

Team Lyqa

When Lyqa Maravilla topped her civil service exam in 2015, she realized how exams are important to a person’s success in life. It was this particular achievement that pushed her to launch her online channel, Team Lyqa, which is dedicated to helping young students, examiners, and anyone who is looking for words of motivation. Here, she uploads episodes on test-taking tips, tricks, techniques, as well as various reviewers and worksheets.

Team Lyqa is one of the winning creators of the first YouTube NextUp Manila in 2017, representing education. She also participated in the first-ever YouTube FanFest Moms Edition along with other lifestyle, beauty, and mommy creators last May 2019.

Around the globe, learning and educational content drive hundreds of millions views a day on YouTube.
