“The main mission of The Junior Golfers League (TJGL) is to encourage and develop young enthusiasts to learn the sport through regular tournaments and become future athletes,” Chona Dela Paz, President of TJGL. “The Oakley Cup allows us to continue that mission," she added. Now on its 7th year, The Oakley Golf Cup is bigger and better reaching more and more junior golfers to hone their game.

Held at Pradera Verde in Lubao, Pampanga, this year’s Oakley Golf Cup featured the Blind Callaway in an 18-hole system with a musical ensemble of brass instruments, percussion instruments and color guard as added distractions in each hole. Under intense heat and pressure, the participants competed sectioned in four classes including junior golfers.

Emerging victorious in Class A, Cassy Arbatin, Ahn Chan, Jacob Gomez, and Dustin Recto. Following in 1 st Runner Up are Dominic Villamor, Dylan Castillo, Sean Granada, and Josh Jorge while Stevie Umali, Andie Arbatin, and Celine Abalos bagged 2nd Runner Up.

For Class B, Jun De Grano, Benedict Leong, and James de Leon brought the Champion trophy home as Sophia Encarnacion, Jacob Chua, and Cedric Aunzo landed 1 st Runner Up trailed closely by Jody Castillo, Jermaine Melosantos, Stephanie Encarnacion, and Ken Aquino for 2nd Runner Up.

In Class C, Grace Montilla with Vangie Omlang, Tek Guese, and Cora Aguinaldo arose triumphant. Tailing in 1 st Runner Up are Kyungsuk “Derek” Min, August Cruz, and Jong Arcano while Enzo Radiovan, Tyler Samuco, and Joshua Bucay took home 2nd Runner Up. Kent Tee, CJ Alcantara, and Aesha Ong ascended champions of Class D and Kyle Ang, JM Bautista, Juaquin De Grano, Gelian Mandario placed 1 st Runner Up. Simon Encarnacion, Dylan Recto, and Manolo De Grano were awarded 2nd Runner Up.

The tournament concluded with the awarding presented by James Deakin. Oakley also pledged One Hundred Thousand Pesos to The Junior Golfers League in support of developing young athletes in pursuing their passion.

“This is a good initiative. The Junior Golfers League is very happy. One of the first-generation junior golfers in the first Oakley cup became a professional. This is the 7th year already and I can say we have planted a good seed.”, shared Kyungsuk “Derek” Min, Oakley Brand Manager for Korea and the Philippines.
