TV 5 execs lavish gifts on ad agencies

TV 5, the local broadcasting platform of the Salim Group, remains in the red, but  the company acted extra-generous during a trade launching Thursday at Sofitel Philippine Plaza hotel in Pasay City.

Sources said TV 5 raffled off a brand new car and luxury items, like signature bags and watches, to lucky people from various advertising agencies during the wine-and-dine affair.

The trade launch aims to give advertising agencies a glimpse of the upcoming programs that the television network will be showing starting next year.

The new programming for TV 5 veers aways from the traditional offering of drama anthologies, especially during prime time, a strategy that has been the bread and butter of ABS-CBN Corp.’s Channel 2 and GMA Network Inc.’s Channel 7.

Will TV-5’s generosity with advertising companies and new programs translate into actual ad placements and eventually get the television station of the Salim Group out of the hole? Abangan!
