Mongkolpetch stays unbeaten, outclasses Mahmoudi at ONE: FULL BLAST II

Mongkolpetch Petchyindee Academy kept his record immaculate in ONE Super Series Muay Thai after another impressive showing.

Mongkolpetch scored a majority decision win over #4-ranked contender Elias “The Sniper” Mahmoudi in the main event of the previously recorded ONE: FULL BLAST II, which aired on Friday, June 11, on One Sports.

The Thai superstar cut his opponent down to size from the onset, waiting for the French-Algerian to come forward with kicks before unleashing solid leg kicks of his own to slow down his taller opponent.

“The Sniper” continued to stalk Mongkolpetch, but the Petchyindee Academy standout wasn’t having any of it and even landed a solid body shot and elbow right before the first round ended.

It was the second round where Mongkolpetch truly sealed the win, however.

With Mahmoudi continuing to pressure with his hands, Mongkolpetch kept working on his kicks while occasionally entertaining with exchanges inside the clinch.

With a little over a minute remaining in the second round, Mahmoudi threw a knee-to-punch combo that Mongkolpetch countered with a perfect straight right hand that floored Mahmoudi for the first time in the match.

Knowing that he needed to do something drastic to change his fortunes on the scorecards, Mahmoudi kept upping the pressure in the third round and had some success, landing punches while keeping Mongkolpetch on his heels.

But Mongkolpetch was smart enough to know when to engage and when to counter, as Mahmoudi never hit anything solid, allowing the Thai to cruise in the third and come away with a majority decision win.

With the win, Mongkolpetch upped his record to 4-0 in The Home Of Martial Arts and could find himself in the top five of the Muay Thai flyweight division, a division currently ruled by ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon.

In the co-main event, Amarsanaa “Spear” Tsogookhuu put on a striking masterclass as he dealt debuting Ben Wilhelm the first loss of his career, earing a unanimous decision.

Wilhelm showed great toughness in absorbing all of the shots that the Mongolian dished out, but the volume that he took was just too much for him to handle, as Tsogookhuu stormed back to the winner’s circle in the promotion.
