It will be another action-packed Thursday morning for Filipino mixed martial arts fans, as ONE Championship continues its weekly offering of action with the previously recorded “ONE on TNT III,” which airs on 8:30 a.m. on One Sports.
Top-ranked bantamweight contender John “Hands Of Stone” Lineker headlines the card when he takes on “Pretty Boy” Troy Worthen in an explosive main event.
Lineker was initially scheduled to face Filipino star Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, but the Team Lakay representative had to pull out because of COVID-19 precautions.
Still, the Brazilian gets the chance to continue his victorious ways inside the Circle and cement his spot as the next challenger to ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes.
Lineker has been on absolute tear since making his debut in The Home Of Martial Arts, outlasting Muin “Tajik” Gafurov in his first match before knocking out former divisional king Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon in his last outing.
Another impressive performance against Worthen and his claim as the undisputed challenger to his compatriot’s strap will be without question.
He needs to bring his A-game against Worthen, though, who is expected to go all-out in this match, especially after absorbing the first setback of his career.
The Evolve MMA star got outpointed by Yusup “Maestro” Saadulaev in his last Circle outing, and now armed with the experience of losing for the first time, a lot is expected from the American wrestler in this match.
In the co-main event, it will be a crucial tussle in the flyweight division as #4-ranked Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu battles #5-ranked Fil-Aussie Reece “Lightning” McLaren in a match between two men looking to put themselves in a better position in the dynamic weight class.
But the action doesn’t end there. On the lead card, it will be a battle of striking legends as John Wayne Parr and Nieky “The Natural” Holzken slug it out in a three-round Muay Thai bout.
Former ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat “Cobra” Gafurov also returns to action in the lightweight division, as he takes on debuting Ok Rae Yoon in a match that will determine who faces Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez at “ONE on TNT IV.”
Alvarez was involved in a controversial finish at “ONE on TNT I,” where he was disqualified for landing illegal blows to the back of Iuri Lapicus' head.
Catch “ONE on TNT III” on ONE Sports or ONE Sports+ at 8:30 a.m. Philippine Standard Time (PHT) on Thursday, April 22. It will also air simultaneously on the ONE Super App.
Both ONE Sports and ONE Sports+ will have an encore showing at 8:30 p.m. PHT on Friday, April 23.
Also, there will be an encore showing on TV5 at 12 a.m. PHT on Sunday, April 25.
