Geje finds Korean foe very durable

For former ONE Flyweight World champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, getting a win by submission against his Korean foe was a goal unachieved last Friday evening.

That is because “Running Man” Song Min Jong managed to hold his ground in the three rounds that he fought Eustaquio, who claimed a unanimous decision victory at ONE: Inside The Matrix III at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

“Ang hinahanap ko ay iyung (win by) submission. Pinilit ko na maging submission. Pero, matibay talaga ang kalaban,” said the 31-year-old Eustaquio in a Zoom huddle on Monday evening.

“Song Min Jong was very strong. My wrist hurt from striking him too much. He was very durable,” added Eustaquio.

Song Min was focused on winning against him, and this was one reason why Eustaquio could not force a submission.

“Hindi basta-basta ang kalaban, you have to break his will,” added Eustaquio.

The fighter from Baguio City has since improved his fight record to 13 wins and eight losses.

It was Eustaquio’s second straight win, a fitting follow-up to his KO of Toni Tauru last November.

This improved his chance of having a title fight against the likes of no. 1-ranked Adriano Moraes.
