With numerous health and safety restrictions still around, national coaches need to plan ahead for the next training cycles that will be organized for future international events.

PSC: Coaches must plan ahead for training cycles
PSC chairman William Ramirez

Philippine Sports Commission chairman William Ramirez said this while  members of the national contingent get ready to train and prepare this July for the coming Southeast Asian Games in November.

Ramirez said the national coaches need to carefully plan out preparations for the coming ASEAN Paragames and the Southeast Asian Games because of limitations in the PSC’s budget, venues and resources.

“That will be the look out of the NSAs because the budget that we have is very specific,” said Ramirez.

For now, the PSC is refining and drawing its plans to send members of the  national team to train under a bubble and through a cycle that can last from to three to four months.

Agency officials feel that a short cycle of at least three month and a maximum of four is needed by athletes who are part of  the national contingent for the SEA Games.

“It’s not possible for them to train (under a bubble) for a whole year. If the coaches plan this properly, we can make them ready in three months (for the SEA Games),” said national training director Marc Velasco.

There are four venues where national athletes can go into bubble training.

Included in the list is  the Teachers’ Camp in Baguio City, along with the cities of Sta. Rosa in Laguna, Taguig, and Tagaytay.
