Cebuana bet Elreen Ando grabbed three medals with record-breaking lifts on Tuesday evening in the women's 64kg final of the 2021 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The 25-year-old Ando did this when she tallied  213 points to place second behind Chen Wen-Huei of Chinese Taipei (228 points).

Her effort was ahead of bronze medalist Sojin Han of South Korea (211 points).

Ando easily made a 94-kg lift in her first snatch attempt before failing to carry the 97 kgs on her succeeding two tries.

This surpassed her 90-kg performance during the 2019 Asian Championships in Ningbo, China.

Because of this,  Ando went on to finish third and earn a bronze medal for the category.

In the clean and jerk category, Ando recorded a rousing start after hurdling the 115- and 119-kg lifts in her first two attempts for a silver.

Ando’s 119-kg performance surpassed the 110-kg showing she had, also in Ningbo.

Her 213 total was 13 kgs higher than her overall tally of 200 during the Ningbo event.

Overall,  the Philippines now has a total of five silvers and one bronze medal in the Asian meet.

Rio Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz also broke national records when she formalized her entry to the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday after finishing fourth overall in the women's 55kg final.

Earlier, Mary Flor Diaz won three silvers in the women's 45-kg division final last Sunday.

Meanwhile, Margaret Colonia finished seventh in the women's 59-kg division after finishing with 176 points in the total lifts.

Asian juniors' 2019 champion Vanessa Sarno, 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Kristel Macrohon, and John Dexter Tabique are next to see action.
